ABOUT US

Little Islanders is an ethically conscious kidswear label.

In celebration of slow fashion, we do not produce seasonal collections and instead focus on presenting timeless and versatile sustainable options for those in search of unique, good quality clothing for their loved little ones.

Based in Hong Kong, with roots in Singapore and the Philippines, Little Islanders is inspired by both modern city life and island living, which informs the urban-island aesthetic of our pieces.

OUR ETHICAL PRODUCTION PROCESS

All of our clothing is made using fabric produced
through traditional methods.

In particular, we use artisanal hand-loomed fabric sourced from various parts of the Philippines, especially in the North where artisans have been engaged in weaving since pre-hispanic times, with the knowledge and craft passed down from generation to generation. This weaving tradition is becoming a dying art. By using these luxurious and durable hand-loomed fabric to make our clothes, we support sustainable livelihoods for the artisans and weaving communities in the Philippines who are still engaged in this work.

We are also committed to using organic Philippine cotton as much as possible, as the Philippines seeks to revive their local cotton industry. Barbadense, the local Filipino cotton variety, is known to be one of the best cotton varieties in the world, on par with pima cotton and egyptian cotton.

Whilst our fabric is sourced in the Philippines, our clothes are small-batch manufactured in Hong Kong by a sewing workshop whose profits are channelled towards supporting grassroots and community work in the economically disadvantaged areas of Hong Kong.

Little Islanders is proud to contribute to this work as part of our production process.
